Celebrating Black boyhood, one program at a time
Our mission at Black Boys WILL Get Love is to use media to turn silence into language and change the way Black men and boys are perceived in society.
Our anchor program is the Black Boys WILL Get Love Video Podcast Training Program, an opportunity for boys of color and allies, grades 9-12, to participate in an industry-standard video podcasting workshop. Our team of media industry professionals will teach students the fundamentals of storytelling, marketing, production, and post-production for video podcasting.
As part of producing the video podcast, boys of color and allies will take various roles in the production in order to produce a compelling podcast that highlights relevant issues around Black boyhood, such as self-esteem, manhood, and representation in media.
At the end of the program, students in the Podcast Training Program will have the opportunity to present their work at a Podcast Release Party, which will include the opportunity to screen clips from the podcast & participate in a talk-back with the audience on their learning experience in the program.
The purpose of the Black Boys WILL Get Love Podcast Training Program is to empower boys of color to tell their own stories and provide them with the skills they need to be successful storytellers by teaching and critiquing them at a Hollywood-standard level, right here in Upstate New York.

Our backstory
Black Boys WILL Get Love is a program of Black Girls WILL Get Love, a non-profit with acclaimed programming including the Black Girls Don't Get Love Prom, Slumber Party, Outdoor Exploration, and the Black Girls Don't Get Love Film Training Program. Within less than two years of being established, we have served over 200 girls, secured over $100K in brand sponsorships, and been recognized with (2) CNY Business Journal awards for our impact in the Central New York area and beyond.
During the summer of 2023, we hosted the Black Girls Don’t Get Love Film Training Program, an opportunity for girls of color ages 13-25 to experience a Hollywood-standard film production process in Central New York. The program garnered national interest, and twenty-two girls of color and allies from across the country (representing 10 different states) traveled to Syracuse, New York to receive hands-on experience in the pre-production, production, and post-production process. Our students took courses in producing, directing, acting, cinematography, post-production, lighting, and audio. With the success of the Film Training Program, we now offer our educational workshops to school districts, colleges, and universities. Our Screenwriting Workshop curriculum has been approved by multiple New York-based Boards of Education, and we have been contracted to teach the program in multiple Upstate New York school districts.
